Whether you are going to have a face lift, a tummy tuck, or a nose job, there are some things you should know about preparing for a plastic surgery procedure. Your doctor will, of course, give you specific instructions for what to do before and after the surgery – but here are a few things to keep in mind to make your procedure and your recovery a success.

Get help in advance

After any procedure, you should have someone to drive you home. You might even want someone to stay with you overnight, to help take care of you. If you have young children, having some help is definitely something you should arrange in advance.

Prepare your home

If you can’t have someone there to take care of you every minute as you recover, there are some things you can do before the procedure to make things easier on yourself after the procedure. You can prepare a few meals ahead of time, make sure you have your favorite snacks on hand, and prepare a good place to relax, such as having a good book and the remote near your favorite spot on the sofa.

Prepare yourself

Even if you are getting a tummy tuck to get rid of some extra fat, this is no time to start pigging out on junk food and giving up on your exercise routine. Eating right and staying in shape right up until the day of the procedure can help your body heal faster.

Your doctor will give you a list of medications to stop taking, as well as details on when you should stop taking them. Generally, patients should stop taking anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen and aspirin, a couple of weeks before surgery. Don’t forget to ask your doctor about herbal medications or supplements, to see if you should stop taking them as well.

Take the time to prepare yourself and your home before your procedure so that you can have a quick and comfortable recovery. If you are interested in a plastic surgery procedure or have questions about an upcoming surgery, contact Dr. Gary J. Price in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT. Call (203) 453-6635 today!

As we age, our skin loses elasticity, stretching and sagging and causing us to look older. There are many different options for rejuvenation treatment, but with the early signs of aging in the face, a mini facelift, or “celebrity lift” may be all that’s needed for many patients. It’s a popular alternative to a standard facelift, offering a quicker recovery, shorter incisions and less cost than a full lift. If you’re thinking about going under the knife to turn back time on your face, here are six things you should know about a mini facelift:

It requires minimal downtime compared to a full facelift. Recovery is as short as three days. There is minimal to no pain after the lift, and no dressings are required. After five days, your sutures will be removed. You can hide stitches with your hair and the mild bruising with makeup and certain hairstyles. Exercise, however, will be restricted for two weeks.

The incisions are shorter than with a full facelift. A short incision is made in front of the ear and extends down into the crease between the ear and the cheek. Thin muscle tissues are pulled upward and outward toward the ears. Once the tissues are lifted into the ideal position, Dr. Price sutures them into place and trims the extra skin and hides the incision. For a full facelift, the incision begins at the temples along the hairline, down around the ears, ending in the hairline behind the ear.

It’s not as completely effective as a full facelift for neck problems. For more advanced sagging of the neck, a full facelift is the better option.

It can be performed using local anesthesia or intravenous sedation. General anesthesia is not necessary with mini facelifts.

It can be combined with other rejuvenation treatments. Just like a full facelift, a mini facelift can be performed with injectable fillers, laser treatments, and eyelid surgery and other forms of rejuvenation treatments.

The results are permanent. But as with any treatment, your face will continue to age naturally. Some patients will undergo a second procedure in five years after the initial mini facelift to restore results.

Ready to see a younger, fresher look to your face? To learn more about the mini facelift, schedule a consultation with Dr. by calling (203) 453-6635.

Mini Facelift Guilford, CTIn this day and age it seems like the bigger the thing, the better the results, right? Even though there’s a time and place for the saying, “bigger means better,” there are other instances in which things that are smaller (like mini facelifts) may do the trick.

What’s a mini facelift?

Not everyone needs an entire facelift in order to get rid of signs of aging like a loss of volume and elasticity in the skin. For instance, Dr. Price performs a lot of in facelifts on patients who have already undergone a facelift in the past but need a little bit of a pick-me-up. During a mini facelift, a short incision will be made at the hairline. Then, the skin at the front of the ear is released and the muscle is lifted tighter to give off a tauter appearance.

Who is a good candidate?

During your initial consult on with Dr., Price, he will be able to give you a better idea of whether or not you’re a good candidate for a mini facelift. But, on average, patients who are most suitable for this type of procedure have signs of aging down the jawline and only early changes in the neck. If patients have more advanced sagging in the neck, a full facelift may be a more appropriate choice.

What Are the Benefits of  a Mini?

Even though a full facelift will give patients more dramatic results, there are any benefits of a mini facelift including:

  • No bandages
  • General anesthesia is not necessary because we use a local anesthetic or intravenous sedation
  • It usually only  takes one to one and a half hours

Mini Facelift Recovery Guilford, CTFine lines and wrinkles are just about everyone’s enemy and even though a traditional facelift can be used to help patients get rid of these skin concerns, they aren’t always necessary if you only have the early signs of aging on your neck.

If you feel like you are primarily showing signs of aging across your face and only down to your jawline, then you may be the perfect candidate for a mini facelift. During your mini facelift, Dr. Price will make small incisions starting at the front of the ear and extending all the way to the back of the year. After the incisions have been made, he will then pull the facial tissues upwards to help lift and tighten any sagginess. After you have been stitched up and sent home to recover, you may not what to expect. Luckily, we are here to help. To help speed up your recovery process, Dr. Price has created a list of three recovery tips for you to follow.

Avoid Working Out

If you are a big exercise enthusiast then this may be hard for you to do, but Dr. Price encourages all patients to wait about two weeks to start working out again. Why? Because jumping, running, and overexerting yourself may cause more inflammation or may irritate your incisions.

Rest for a Few Days

One of the many benefits of a mini facelift is that unlike traditional facelifts that require your whole face to be bandaged up, a mini facelift doesn’t require any of that. And, unlike a traditional facelift that requires you to stay in bed for a few weeks, you can usually get away with just resting in bed for a few days.

Take NSAIDs

You shouldn’t be in too much pain after a mini facelift, but you may be a little sore and uncomfortable. To help ease any discomfort or swelling, try taking some over-the-counter NSAIDs like Ibuprofen or Motrin.

Depending on your skin concerns, one of our many minimally invasive procedures may do the trick for you. To learn more, contact our Guilford office and call us at (203) 453-6635.

Mini Facelift Guilford, CTWhen it comes to combating fine lines and wrinkles it can seem like you have two solutions: you can either go all in and get a surgical facelift, or you can do something temporary like getting facial fillers and Botox. However, Dr. Gary J. Price offers patients another option: a mini facelift or a celebrity facelift. So, what is this treatment and what are its benefits? Let’s take a closer look.

What’s a Mini Facelift?

Mini facelifts have gained popularity among our patients because they give them a more youthful complexion without the recovery time and process. During this surgical procedure, Dr. Gary J. Price will use a local anesthetic to numb the face. Once the face is numb, he will make a small incision at the hairline to help lift the skin into a more youthful position.

What Are Its Benefits?

There are several unique benefits of a mini facelift including that you won’t have to go under general anesthesia. Even though general anesthesia is effective in most surgical procedures, it can make a recovery longer and can even make some patients feel ill, but with a mini facelift, we get rid of the need for general anesthesia. Another unique benefit of this procedure is that there are no bandages necessary. With traditional facelifts, patients are typically sent home with their whole face bandaged up, but with this surgery, you won’t have to worry about resembling a mummy anytime soon.

If your fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of collagen in your skin have been getting you down, but you want more than Botox and less than a facelift, consider getting a mini facelift from our New Haven Office. Call (203) 453-6635 to schedule your consultation today!

Facelifts Guilford, CTThere are few things you can do to combat sagging skin— especially around your face. Yes, you can lay upside do in hopes that gravity may make you feel better (but the head rush won’t do you any favors) or you can take a more realistic approach and get a surgical facelift from Dr. Gary J. Price.

If you have been researching facelifts online, it’s safe to say that you have more than likely run into a few articles from unlicensed sources filled with myths about this procedure. To help you feel more informed about this procedure, we have created a brief list debunking four common myths.

  1. Results Look Fake

As long as you are getting your facelift done by an experienced professional like Dr. Gary J. Price, your results from your facelift should look natural— making you look almost years younger in the process.

  1. All Surgeons Are Created Equal

In a perfect world, you would be able to go online and Google the most affordable surgeon in town and feel confident that they will give you great results. However, that’s unfortunately not the case. In fact, there are a lot of people who go to a surgeon that doesn’t have experienced and get results that make them wish they didn’t get the procedure to begin with.

Luckily, here at our office, you know that your face is in the best hands. With decades of experience and certification by The National Board of Medical Examiners, The American Board of Surgery, and The American Board of Plastic Surgery, you can feel confident about your surgical experience the entire time.

  1. Facelifts Are Only for Women

Although most people think that plastic surgery procedures are only for women, there is a surprisingly increasing amount of men who are opting to get these types of procedures as well. If you are a male who is losing elasticity in your skin, come into our office to get a consultation from Dr. Gary J. Price.

Facial Implants Guilford, CTThe last thing you want is to have a face that resembles a basketball from every angle. As one of the most common features that all supermodels have, it’s a naturally contoured look. If you feel like your face could use a bit more definition, then you may want to consider one of these three options. From facial fillers to facial implants, this article will discuss three unique ways you can add contour and definition to your face. Read on to learn more.

Facial Fillers

As a temporary and affordable way to add definition to your face, facial fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are popular amongst Dr. Gary J. Price’s patients. By injecting the fillers under your cheekbones and around the center of your face, you will notice fewer wrinkles and more facial volume overall.

Fat Transfer

As one of the most popular procedures out there, fat transfer surgery involves removing fat from one part of your body and redistributing it to your face. And because you are using your fat, you don’t have to worry about any adverse reactions or introducing a chemical component to your body. Although some of the fat will be absorbed after it has been harvested, most of it should stay.

Facial Implants

If you’re looking for a permanent way to add contour and definition to your face, look no further than facial implants. By surgically implanting silicone implants under your cheeks or chin, you can add a whole new level of dimension to your face.

If you’re looking for a way to transform your face shape and structure, look no further than facial fillers, a fat transfer procedure, and facial implants. To learn more about each of these procedures and to see if one of them is right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Gary J. Price.

facelift | new haven ctUnless you are Benjamin Button and age backward, you will start to notice the skin around your face and neck will start to lose elasticity. And although dermal fillers and Botox can help temporarily rid you of fine lines and wrinkles, they aren’t permanent. If you are looking for a more permanent way to get tighter skin, consider getting a lift. With three prominent types of lifts to choose from, however, you may not know the difference between them. From facelifts to neck lift’s, this article will discuss three common surgical lift procedures that Dr. Gary J. Price performs. Read on to learn more.

Facelift

When you initially hear of a surgical lift, a facelift is probably the surgery that you are most familiar with. Designed to treat sagging skin around the face and neck, a facelift is an outpatient procedure that involves surgically tightening the skin, and removing excess skin in the process.

Forehead Lift

As one of the first places on your face to show your actual age, your forehead can start to develop wrinkles even in your late teens or early twenties. A forehead lift is a surgical procedure designed to get rid of a sagging brow and fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead. During a forehead lift, small incisions will be made, and your skin will physically be lifted and tightened.

Neck Lift

Because Botox and dermal fillers are a great way to treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face, some patients opt to get just a neck lift. A neck lift involves removing excess fat, skin, and tissue in the neck that is causing you to look more your age. During this procedure, small incisions will be made, and the skin will be smoothed out— giving you back your youthful appearance.

Aging is both beautiful and traumatic. If you have started to notice the toll that your age is having on your skin, consider getting a surgical lift from Dr. Gary J. Price. During your consultation, Dr. Price will go over your options and collectively you can decide what procedure is best for you. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, contact our office today!

Cheek Enhancement | New Haven CTIf you look in the mirror and want to change a thing or two about your appearance, you are certainly not alone. And as your skin starts to lose elasticity and collagen as you age, you may start to notice even more flaws in your appearance that you would like to change. As an excellent way to enhance your overall look and make your face look a bit more youthful, cheek enhancement surgery is relatively simple. Read on to learn more about cheek enhancement surgery and whether or not it is the right thing for you.

What Is Cheek Enhancement Surgery?

Typically done in conjunction with a facelift, cheek enhancement surgery involves using either fillers, implants, or fat grafts to plump up the cheeks and give you a more chiseled facial appearance. Depending on the method that you and Dr. Gary J. Price decide to use for your cheek enhancements, you may have to go under anesthesia. If, however, you decide to do mere injections, you can be in and out of our office in virtually no time at all.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

To determine whether or not you are a suitable candidate for any cosmetic surgery, you will have to undergo a physical exam by your primary care physician to make sure that you are healthy enough. Most candidates for cheek enhancement surgery have a loss of fat in their face due to age and sun damage.

What Are Results Like?

Results from a cheek enhancement vary from patient to patient and depending on what method you use. For instance, if you and Dr. Gary J. Price decide to use fillers, your results will only last up to a year. Whereas if you get implants, they will last for several years, if not longer.

If you have started to notice a loss of fat and elasticity in your face, you may want to consider getting a cheek enhancement done by Dr. Gary J. Price. If you would like to learn more about this procedure or if you would like to schedule an appointment, contact our office today!

What is a Celebrity Lift?
Also known as a mini facelift, a Celebrity Lift doesn’t require general anesthesia or bandaging. By making a long incision across the hairline, Dr. Gary J. Price will lift the skin in front of the ears to tighten it and alleviate you of fine lines and wrinkles.

As the greatest benefit of all, your skin will be lifted, tightened, and your fine lines and wrinkles you can kiss goodbye.

Who are good candidates?
