When to Consider Getting a Mini Facelift

Mini Facelift Guilford, CTWhen it comes to combating fine lines and wrinkles it can seem like you have two solutions: you can either go all in and get a surgical facelift, or you can do something temporary like getting facial fillers and Botox. However, Dr. Gary J. Price offers patients another option: a mini facelift or a celebrity facelift. So, what is this treatment and what are its benefits? Let’s take a closer look.

What’s a Mini Facelift?

Mini facelifts have gained popularity among our patients because they give them a more youthful complexion without the recovery time and process. During this surgical procedure, Dr. Gary J. Price will use a local anesthetic to numb the face. Once the face is numb, he will make a small incision at the hairline to help lift the skin into a more youthful position.

What Are Its Benefits?

There are several unique benefits of a mini facelift including that you won’t have to go under general anesthesia. Even though general anesthesia is effective in most surgical procedures, it can make a recovery longer and can even make some patients feel ill, but with a mini facelift, we get rid of the need for general anesthesia. Another unique benefit of this procedure is that there are no bandages necessary. With traditional facelifts, patients are typically sent home with their whole face bandaged up, but with this surgery, you won’t have to worry about resembling a mummy anytime soon.

If your fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of collagen in your skin have been getting you down, but you want more than Botox and less than a facelift, consider getting a mini facelift from our New Haven Office. Call (203) 453-6635 to schedule your consultation today!

Face the Facts: 3 Myths About Facelifts

Facelifts Guilford, CTThere are few things you can do to combat sagging skin— especially around your face. 1. Results Look Fake

  1. All Surgeons Are Created Equal

In a perfect world, you would be able to go online and Google the most affordable surgeon in town and feel confident that they will give you great results. However, that’s unfortunately not the case. In fact, there are a lot of people who go to a surgeon that doesn’t have experienced and get results that make them wish they didn’t get the procedure to begin with.

Luckily, here at our office, you know that your face is in the best hands. With decades of experience and certification by The National Board of Medical Examiners, The American Board of Surgery, and The American Board of Plastic Surgery, you can feel confident about your surgical experience the entire time.

  1. Facelifts Are Only for Women

Saline Vs Silicone Implants: Getting Back to Basics

Breast LiftLife is full of options. You get to choose what you have for lunch, where you want to work, and nowadays, you can choose what you want to look like with the help of doctors like Dr. Gary J. Price. One of the options in particular that Dr. Gary J Price prides himself on is the different breast implant options that we offer at our office. Whether you want firm, soft, round, or teardrop shaped implants, we have several options for you to choose from with the help of Dr. Gary J. Price and our staff.

Saline

Saline implants are available to suitable patients over the age of 18 and are popular because they are filled with an all-natural saltwater solution. Unlike silicone implants, one of the unique things about saline implants is that they are filled up with the saline solution during the surgery— not beforehand— which helps give Dr. Gary J. Price a little bit more flexibility in the surgical process itself.

Silicone

Silicone implants are available to patients who are over the age of 22. Silicone implants are popular amongst patients because they give a more natural look and feel than saline implants. Another benefit of silicone implants is that if the implant gets a rupture in it, they won’t collapse which gives patients more time to have it fixed without having to deal with too much embarrassment.

Just like with all things, there are pros and cons to both saline and silicone implants. During your initial consultation, we will help you decide what size, shape, and texture of implant is best for you and your body. If you want to learn all about your breast implant options or to schedule your consultation, contact our Guilford office at (203) 453-6635.

Is the IDEAL IMPLANT, Really that Ideal?

IDEAL IMPLANT Guilford, CTLet’s talk breast implants. Just like with most things in life, you have options to choose from when you are considering a breast augmentation. You get to choose the size of the implant, the shape of the implant (round or teardrop), the incision location, and most importantly, the type of implant that is going to give you the results you want.

During your initial consultation with Dr. Gary J. Price, you will go over all of these options and specifically, whether you want to go with a saline or silicone implant. But if you are stuck on what type of implant to get, you may want to make the ideal choice and go with the IDEAL IMPLANT.

What Is the IDEAL IMPLANT?

Nothing is more natural than water— even salt water— right? Saline implants are filled with salt water which gives patients peace of mind that if their implant were to rupture, it wouldn’t cause them any harm or damage. However, many patients opt not to get saline implants because they have a hard texture and a poignant round appearance.

One of the many benefits of The IDEAL IMPLANT is that it is designed differently than traditional saline implants. Its unique structure contains an inner shell which holds the saline and an outer shell that holds an outer saline filler. Between both of these shells are one to three baffle shells which give patients peace of mind, and a natural appearance and texture.

With traditional silicone implants, it’s difficult for patients to detect if they have a leak which in rare instances can sometimes lead to health issues.

If you have been wanting to get breast implants but aren’t sure what kind to get, schedule a consultation with Dr. Gary J. Price. During your initial consultation, he will go over all of your options to ensure that you pick the best one for you. Contact our Guilford office today to learn more!

Laser and Light: Are They the Same?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Guilford, CTWanting beautiful skin and knowing how to get it are two entirely different things. You may want that million dollars home with the Porsche in the driveway, but the chances are that you don’t know how to get it— in this lifetime anyway.

Similarly, you may know that you should wash your face and wear sunscreen if you want a clear complexion. But if you want movie star worthy skin, you may want to consider getting either light or laser. As two popular procedures, light and laser often get mistaken for each other, but they’re different.

Light

You know that you can go in your house and turn on the lights, and you also know that light is emitted from the sun, but did you know that light can also tighten skin, get rid of hyperpigmentation, and lighten scarring?

There are different sources of light; some that are harmful to the skin and others that are a bit more therapeutic. The goal of light triggered devices like Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is to direct small pulses of light energy into specific targets into the skin such as melanin, blood, water, or even acne bacteria. By emitting these small pulses of light, the skin is heated up which helps to give you a smoother, tighter, and more even looking complexion.

Laser

You may have dreamed of holding a laser beam like Darth Vader when you were a kid, but the lasers used to treat your skin are a little different. If you remember Vader’s lightsaber, however, you remember it as one continuous beam. Similarly, laser technology for your skin also emits one single ray of light to penetrate deep into the skin. Because laser technology is precise, it helps Dr. Gary J. Price target specific areas of the skin.

Schedule your consultation at our Guilford office to learn more about whether light or laser is better for your skin’s specific needs.

How to Repair Gauged Ears

Ear Surgery (Otoplasty) Guilford, CT“The past is in the past” until it’s not. If you hopped on the ear gauging trend and had your ears gauged to a size that you can practically fit plates into (or just a pen cap) but want your normal earlobes back, you may be at a loss for what you can do to repair them. Even though your skin is an incredible organ that can repair itself over time, if your earlobes were stretched to substantial limits, not even time can heal those wounds. Luckily, Dr. Gary J. Price can help restore your earlobes, so they don’t look like they’ve been stretched to their limits.

Here at our office, Dr. Gary J. Price offers a variety of ear repair surgeries including otoplasty which is performed to correct ears that protrude too far from the head. Additionally, he performs earlobe repair surgery to help restore earlobes that have been stretched, torn, or ripped.

Your earlobes are made solely of fat and skin making them an easy part of the body to work with. Without bones or cartilage, Dr. Price can typically perform this restorative surgery in about an average of 30 minutes. During this surgery, the skin lining the tear will typically be removed, and then the hole where your gauges were will be stitched up.

During recovery, your earlobes will be a bit tender to the touch. We recommend that you avoid any contact sports or activities that could harm your ears. To help ease any pain or swelling, try taking an over the counter (OTC) pain reliever. Our office will send you home with instructions regarding what OTC drugs you can take while recovering. Many patients wonder if they will be able to pierce their ears again after surgery. Depending on how big your gauges were and how well your ears have healed from this procedure will determine whether or not you’ll be able to have them pierced again.

If you didn’t properly gauge your love for gauged ears and wanted to have them fixed, schedule a consultation with our Guilford office today!
