3 Places You Can Get Botox to Look Younger

Botox New Haven, ConnecticutIt’s no secret that Botox is popular among men and women of all ages. As a non-invasive injectable, Botox can help take years off of your face and prevent premature wrinkles from forming in the first place. But where exactly will Dr. Price inject Botox to help give you a more youthful appearance? Let’s take a closer look and see.

Elevens

Your elevens are the vertical lines that are in between your eyebrows that kind of look like the number eleven. A lot of people get these lines when they scrunch their face p when they’re excited, angry, or frustrated. To help you get rid of these lines, Dr. Price will inject Botox into the facial muscles right by your eyebrow and even in your eyebrow so that you can’t make these movements.

Crows Feet

When you smile, do you have wrinkles on the sides of your eyes? Or, when your face is even relaxed, do you still have those wrinkles? If so, then Dr. Price can help alleviate these wrinkles with Botox. During your appointment, he will inject Botox directly into the muscles on the sides of the eyes to help soften the appearance of crow’s feet.

Forehead Wrinkles

Botox can be injected all across your forehead to temporarily soften fine lines and wrinkles. During your initial consultation, Dr. Price will have you make certain movements with your forehead to see where exactly you have wrinkles or where you could potentially get them. Then, he will inject Botox into those muscles to relax them.

Botox is primarily used for cosmetic purposes across the forehead and around the eyes. If you want to learn a little bit more, contact us at our Guilford office today at (203) 453-6635.

When Smaller Is Better: What to Know About Mini Facelifts

Mini Facelift Guilford, CTIn this day and age it seems like the bigger the thing, the better the results, right? Even though there’s a time and place for the saying, “bigger means better,” there are other instances in which things that are smaller (like mini facelifts) may do the trick.

What’s a mini facelift?

Not everyone needs an entire facelift in order to get rid of signs of aging like a loss of volume and elasticity in the skin. For instance, Dr. Price performs a lot of in facelifts on patients who have already undergone a facelift in the past but need a little bit of a pick-me-up. During a mini facelift, a short incision will be made at the hairline. Then, the skin at the front of the ear is released and the muscle is lifted tighter to give off a tauter appearance.

Who is a good candidate?

During your initial consult on with Dr., Price, he will be able to give you a better idea of whether or not you’re a good candidate for a mini facelift. But, on average, patients who are most suitable for this type of procedure have signs of aging down the jawline and only early changes in the neck. If patients have more advanced sagging in the neck, a full facelift may be a more appropriate choice.

What Are the Benefits of  a Mini?

Even though a full facelift will give patients more dramatic results, there are any benefits of a mini facelift including:

  • No bandages
  • General anesthesia is not necessary because we use a local anesthetic or intravenous sedation
  • It usually only  takes one to one and a half hours

If you want to learn more about mini facelifts, contact our Guildford office and call us at (203) 453-6635.

How to Tell If You Need to Have Your Silicone Breast Implants Redone

Breast Augmentation Guilford CTIn a perfect world, breast implants would last for your entire life, but that’s unfortunately not the case. Although silicone breast implants can last a really long time, you will likely need to have them done every 10 to 15 years. So, how exactly can you tell whether or not you need to have yours redone?

It’s Been Over 10 Years Since Your Last Breast Implant

On average, silicone breast implants last over 10 years. Although some patients can get a longer life out of their implants than others, it’s usually not until at least after a decade that we encourage parents to come back in and get their breasts redone; that way you cut down on potential problems from happening and you get perkier breasts in the process.

You Have a Leak

One of the trickiest parts about silicone breast implants is that they can be really hard to detect. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends that patients conduct regular self-exams and come in for checkups to make sure that their breasts are still intact. If you feel like your implants feel abnormal or if you haven’t had them check in a while, come into our office and Dr. Price will either examine them himself or order an MRI to make sure that there isn’t a leak.

Your Breast Plants Are Lopsided or Misshapen

Natural breasts usually aren’t symmetrical but implants should always be symmetrical. If you have noticed that your breasts are changing shape or if they seem a little bit lopsided, then this is a sign that you may have a leak or that your implant just needs to be redone.

If you are worried that it’s time to get your breasts redone, come into our office for an exam. To learn more about breast implants, contact our Guilford office and call us at (203) 453-6635.

The Basics of Facial Implants

Facial Implants Guilford, CTWhen you hear about implants, the first thing that comes to mind is breast implants, but here at Dr. Price’s office we offer patients facial implants as well. But what are facial implants and what is there for you to know about them?

What are Facial Implants?

Facial implants are usually made from a solid form of silicone called silastic. These implants are used to help shape and enhance certain parts of the face like the cheeks and chin. The unique thing about facial implants is that they can be different shapes and sizes to help create the perfectly-shaped contour for your facial structure.

How is Surgery Performed?

Typically, we will perform this surgery under intravenous sedation. Once you are sedated, we will then usually make incisions inside of the mouth just behind the cheek which allows us to place implants in your face without you having to deal with incisions.

What Are Results Like?

If you have always wanted to have a little bit more contour n on your cheeks then you can stop dreaming. With facial implants, we can add that extra bit of definition that you’ve been wanting so that you feel more confident in your appearance. The great thing about facial implants is that unlike temporary fillers, they lost a lot longer which means that you won’t have to worry about getting them done too often.

Having the facial structure that you’ve always wanted doesn’t’ have to be something that you continue to dream about. Let Dr. Price turn your dreams into a reality with facial implants. To learn more, contact us at our Guildford office at (203) 453-6635.

3 Ways to Speed Up Your Mini Facelift Recovery

Mini Facelift Recovery Guilford, CTFine lines and wrinkles are just about everyone’s enemy and even though a traditional facelift can be used to help patients get rid of these skin concerns, they aren’t always necessary if you only have the early signs of aging on your neck.

If you feel like you are primarily showing signs of aging across your face and only down to your jawline, then you may be the perfect candidate for a mini facelift. During your mini facelift, Dr. Price will make small incisions starting at the front of the ear and extending all the way to the back of the year. After the incisions have been made, he will then pull the facial tissues upwards to help lift and tighten any sagginess. After you have been stitched up and sent home to recover, you may not what to expect. Luckily, we are here to help. To help speed up your recovery process, Dr. Price has created a list of three recovery tips for you to follow.

Avoid Working Out

If you are a big exercise enthusiast then this may be hard for you to do, but Dr. Price encourages all patients to wait about two weeks to start working out again. Why? Because jumping, running, and overexerting yourself may cause more inflammation or may irritate your incisions.

Rest for a Few Days

One of the many benefits of a mini facelift is that unlike traditional facelifts that require your whole face to be bandaged up, a mini facelift doesn’t require any of that. And, unlike a traditional facelift that requires you to stay in bed for a few weeks, you can usually get away with just resting in bed for a few days.

Take NSAIDs

You shouldn’t be in too much pain after a mini facelift, but you may be a little sore and uncomfortable. To help ease any discomfort or swelling, try taking some over-the-counter NSAIDs like Ibuprofen or Motrin.

Depending on your skin concerns, one of our many minimally invasive procedures may do the trick for you. To learn more, contact our Guilford office and call us at (203) 453-6635.

How to Recover from a Cheek Augmentation

Cheek Augmentation, Guilford, CT

Makeup is one of the best ways for you to transform your complexion and basically your entire physical appearance. If you feel like you are constantly having to contour your cheeks with highlighter and bronzer to help them look more pronounced, then it may be time to really consider getting a cheek augmentation. As a way to help add more volume and contour to your cheeks, a cheek augmentation can help you say goodbye to your daily contouring routine. After surgery, though, it’s important that you make sure that you know how to recover as smoothly as possible. But how? Let’s take a closer look and see.

Liquid Diet

If Dr. Price places your cheek implants on the inside of your mouth through small incisions, he may recommend that you stick to a strict liquid diet while your mouth heals. Why? Chewing traditional food can damage the incision site and make it more difficult for your mouth to heal. During your initial consultation, Dr Price will discuss whether or not he thinks it will be a necessary part of your recovery to go on a liquid diet.

NSAIDs

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may as well be your best friend while you are recovering from a surgical procedure like cheek implants. Why? Because they are a non-addictive way to get rid of pain, and inflammation. And the sooner your pain and inflammation go away, the sooner you will be able to fully enjoy your results.

Rest and Relax

We encourage all of our cheek implant patients to take at least a couple of days off of work. By allowing your body some time to rest and stay in bed, you can help to heal up your body’s natural healing response.

If you have cheeks that just aren’t as prominent as you wish, then it may be time to consider getting some cheek implants from Dr. Price. To schedule your consultation, contact us at our Guildford office and call us at (203) 453-6635.

3 Tips to Make Your Neck Lift Recovery Go Smoother

Neck Lift, Guilford, CT

One of the first places where people start to show signs of aging is on their neck. If you have recently had a mini facelift or a traditional facelift, but feel like your newly tightened skin tends to accentuate your loose skin on your neck, it may be time for a neck lift.

During this surgical procedure, Dr. Gary J. Price will make an incision that starts near your hairline by your sideburn and it will extend all the way to the back of the hair. After that incision has been made, the neck skin will be lifted and excess fat will be repositioned or sculpted. Additionally, the neck muscle which are called the platysma, will be tightened and repositioned. After the appropriate tissues and muscles have been repositioned, the skin will then be draped over the new contours of the neck and then the incisions are closed with sutures.

After surgery, we will then wheel you into a recovery room where you will be monitored typically for several hours or even overnight, and then we will send you home to spend the rest of your recovery. Because recovery after surgery may seem a bit daunting, we have created a list of three things for you to do to help everything go, hopefully, a little bit smoother.

Listen To Your Body

One of the best things that you can do when recovering after a surgery like a neck lift is to really listen to your body. If you are still really sore after the first two weeks (which can be normal) then consider staying home from work or other activities for another couple of days. If, however, you feel your energy returning sooner than this two week mark, you can push yourself a little bit, but still remember to take it easy.

Be Consistent With Wearing Your Neck Wrap

After we send you home from surgery, your neck will be wrapped in a neck wrap that’s designed to give your skin the support it needs in order to fully recover. Make sure that you strictly follow Dr. Price’s orders in regards to how long you should wear this for; that way you can get rid of pain and swelling a lot faster.

Take Pain Medication As Directed

If you are prescribed pain medication by Dr. Price to use after surgery, make sure that you follow all of the instructions listed on the label. The more consistent you are with taking them for the first few days after surgery, the more likely you will be to get better results.

Don’t worry, we will send you home with an even more detailed list of recovery tips after your surgery. To learn more, contact us at our Guildford office and call us at (203) 453-6635.

How You Can Age Gracefully Without Surgery

Anti-aging, Guilford, CT

It used to be that you just had to live with your appearance— suck it up, even if you didn’t feel like your best self. Luckily, that’s no longer the case. Here at Dr. Gary J. Price’s office, he believes that every patient deserves to live their best life as their best self by aging gracefully. But, how can you age gracefully without going under the knife? We have a few options for you to consider.

Anti-Aging Products

Skin care can go a long way; especially when it’s good skin care. To help your skin stay hydrated, protected from sun damage, and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, invest in skin care products that contain things like a broad-spectrum sunscreen, hyaluronic acid, retinol, and vitamin A.

Botox

Botox is another great way for you to age gracefully without having to go under the knife. By temporarily relaxing the muscles across your forehead and around your eyes, Botox helps to give you a more youthful look by temporarily reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Fillers

If you feel like your skin has lost all of its elasticity, then join the aging club. Even though a loss of collagen in your skin is a normal part of the aging process, it doesn’t have to be something that you just deal with. In fact, by getting dermal fillers, Dr. Price can help to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles while also adding temporarily volume to the skin. The result? A younger looking you!

You don’t have to hate the aging process. In fact, you can age as gracefully as ever with the help of these and other non-invasive procedures. During your initial consultation with Dr. Price, he will go over all of these options with you as well as surgical options that you may want to consider. Are you ready to take the next steps to learn more? If so, then this article is just the thing for you. Contact us at our Guilford office today at (203) 453-6635.

How to Get Bigger Cheekbones

Cheekbone Implants, Guilford, CTIf you have thin hair, you can get extensions. If you have fine lines and wrinkles, you can get Botox. If you have a small chest, you can get breast implants. However, what can you do if you want to add more definition to your cheekbones? Let’s take a closer look and see.

Facial Fillers

If you are looking for a noninvasive way to get fuller cheekbones, then fillers may be the way to go. Hyaluronic acid based fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are especially good at adding volume to cheekbones and other parts of the face. By making strategic injections, Dr. Gary J. Price can make your cheekbones look more prominent so that you don’t have to use quite as much highlighter when you’re applying makeup.

Cheek Implants

Another option that Dr. Price offers patients is facial implants. Facial implants are made of a solid form a silicone called silastic which helps to enhance the facial skeleton. During surgery, patients are placed under intravenous sedation. Once sedated, Dr. Price will then place the implant between the bone and the skin through small incisions made in the mouth and behind the cheek so that there won’t’ be any visible scarring.

Not everyone is born with perfect cheekbones. If you want to enhance your cheekbones, then contact our Guilford office today and schedule your consultation appointment with Dr. Gary J. Price. During your consultation appointment, Dr. Price will go over both of these options and help you determine which one (if any) is right for you. To learn more, contact us at (203) 453-6635.

How to Dive Into 2019 With Better Skin

healthy skin, Guilford, CT

Having good skin isn’t something that necessarily comes naturally to a lot of people. If you want to have healthier skin throughout 2019, then we have a few tips for you. Whether it’s getting a procedure done or just investing in some skin care products, we have created a few tips for you to follow.

Start Botox

Botox is one of the most popular non-invasive treatments that we offer patients because it works by actually softening your muscles around your eyes and across your forehead. When the muscles have been softened it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition to softening fine lines and wrinkles, Botox can also be used preventatively. How? You get wrinkles when your face makes certain movements on a regular basis. When, however, your face is unable to make these movements then you are less likely to get wrinkles. One thing to remember about Botox though is that in order for it to work preventatively it needs to be done on a regular basis.

Start Fillers

Fillers work differently than Botox because they actually fill in fine lines and wrinkles while also adding volume to your cheeks and face. If you struggle with having uneven skin texture because of fine lines or if you feel like you have lost a lot of elasticity, then it may be time to start dermal fillers. During your initial consultation with Dr. price, he will go over which fillers he thinks will give you the best results.

Laser

From skin tone to texture, laser skin rejuvenation can treat a variety of different issues. If you want to really change your skin quality in 2019, then laser may be the ultimate way to do that.

Botox, fillers, and laser are just a few ways that you can get better-looking skin in 2019. If you want to learn a little bit more, contact our Guilford office and call us at (203) 453-6635.
